Summer 2025 is shaping up to be a thrilling season where speed, action, and youth collide on screen. Leading the lineup is “F1,” starring Brad Pitt, a film that brings the pulse of real-world Formula 1 racing to the big screen and is already one of the most talked-about releases of the season. But the excitement isn’t limited to the racetrack. This summer is packed with fresh titles across genres. Here’s your guide to the must-watch movies and series of the season.
F1
F1 is an action-sports film directed by Joseph Kosinski—best known for Top Gun: Maverick—produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Dede Gardner, and Brad Pitt. Notably, Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, serves as an executive producer. That means he is helping ensure the film’s racing scenes and F1 culture are portrayed authentically. Through his own company Dawn Apollo Films, he is also supporting the production financially.
The F1 movie will be released in Türkiye on the 27th of June. The international release is on the 25th of June.

The story follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a Formula 1 driver from the 1990s, whose racing career was cut short by a devastating crash thirty years ago. Ruben (Javier Bardem), an old teammate and now the owner of the fictional F1 team ‘APXGP,’ convinces Hayes to make a comeback to the track.
Some of the scenes in this movie were filmed on real Formula 1 tracks such as Silverstone, Hungaroring, Spa, and more. In fact, last year Brad Pitt even drove a Formula 1 car during the real British Grand Prix at Silverstone for a scene in the movie.
However, what really stands out is Brad Pitt’s driving. "Watching Brad drive around at speeds over 180 miles an hour was really impressive to see because it's not something you can just learn overnight," Joseph Kosinski, the director, told reporters. "The dedication and the focus that Brad put into this process has been amazing to witness. This film has got it all: Brad Pitt, speed, thrills, an epic underdog story, drama, humor, and a little bit of romance."
The music in the film is also impressive. The film’s score was composed by Hans Zimmer, a renowned film composer known for Interstellar, Inception, Gladiator, and The Lion King.
Additionally, the movie’s budget is eye-catching. The film’s production budget is estimated at 200 to 300 million US dollars. According to Benzinga, the F1 movie is one of the most expensive movies ever made, with a general budget of over 300 million dollars
More Summer Screen Highlights
While F1 is clearly in pole position this summer, it's far from the only standout release. From streaming platforms to cinema screens, this season offers a wide array of new titles that cater to every taste - whether you're into heartwarming dramas, fantasy escapism, or action movies.
Materialists
Materialists is a romance/drama film directed by Celine Song. Celine Song was nominated for two Academy Awards in 2024, and The Materialists is the second feature-length film she has made so the expectations for it are high in the cinema industry.
The movie is about a successful matchmaker at the top of her career, Lucy (Dakota Johnson), who lives in New York. Just as everything seems perfect professionally, her personal life is complicated by a love triangle. On one side is Harry (Pedro Pascal), a wealthy and seemingly flawless man; on the other is John (Chris Evans), an ex-boyfriend from her past.
Materialists was released in Türkiye on 13th June.
28 Years Later
28 Years Later is a horror/thriller film. The movie was directed by Danny Boyle and the cast has famous names such as Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
The new chapter of the series arrives over two decades after 28 Days Later redefined the zombie genre. 28 Years Later was released in June 2025. The story picks up decades after the Rage Virus outbreak, exploring how society has adapted—or failed to. While Cillian Murphy, star of the first film, doesn’t appear in this installment, he returns as an executive producer. Excitingly, he’s set to make an on-screen comeback in the sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which hits theaters on January 16, 2026.
A third film is already in the works, signaling a full reboot of the cult-favorite franchise.
28 Years Later was released in Türkiye in 20th of June.
The Prince
The Prince is a Turkish original series that was first released in June 2023. The series was created and written by Giray Altınok and directed by Bülent İşbilen and Gökdeniz Uslu. Some scenes in season three take place in the Ottoman Empire.
With its blend of political satire, dark humor, and over-the-top royal antics, The Prince offers a fresh take on power, identity, and cultural clashes. Known for its sharp writing and Altınok’s standout performance, the 10-episode series quickly became one of the year’s most talked-about Turkish comedies. This popularity led Altınok to announce that there will be a 4th season.
Finally, from pulse-pounding races and zombie outbreaks to tangled love stories and sharp satire, Summer 2025 delivers something for every kind of viewer. Whether you're heading to the cinema or streaming from home, this season’s stories promise to entertain and surprise.
