In early May 2025, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu announced Türkiye’s intentions of building a nuclear submarine under the MILDEN project. The project is hopeful of projecting more power on a global scale and joining a highly exclusive group of other countries that also possess nuclear submarines.

On May 17th, 2025, Erdoğan announced the discovery of a natural gas reserve in the Black Sea. Located near the Göktepe 3 well, the reserve is estimated to contain 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas and have a monetary value of approximately 30 billion dollars. Although the discovery marks a significant turning point, the announcement appears to follow a certain pattern that has been recognized before: major energy-related discoveries during times of political tension.

On April 14th, 2025, the historic Blue Origin flight New Shephard (NS-31) took 6 women, including famous singer Katy Perry, into space. The women crossed the boundary of space, recognized as being 100 km above the Earth, for a total of 11 minutes. Aimed to originally empower women in STEM and space fields, the journey was met with distaste from critiques ranging from A-list celebrities to social media users.
